AI is about to eliminate or greatly reduce many jobs all over the world. The fact ChapGPT just broke the record for fastest adoption of a new technology is something to pay attention to because it is going to make all of us have to step up our game. Here are just a small sampling of jobs that will immediately feel the effects of AI language models.
Writers of all types (journalists, copywriters, PR, entertainment)
Customer service (not in person)
Graphics design
Video and audio content creators
Advisors and consultants
Coders and developers
Project managers and coordinators of all types
Teachers
Lawyers
Nurses
Basically, every industry will be shaped by this technology from now to the unimaginable future generations of your lineage. From it will spawn new opportunities but in its path will be a graveyard of old ones.
A ton of jobs that don’t require physical presence, interaction, or engagement are forever changing and life as you remembered is shifting. We are not going back and there is no stopping this.
If your value at work is in what you know how to access and tell people; well, AI just came along and has torn the roof off that and allows anyone to know what you know. Unlike search engines though, AI is reducing the friction to access what people want and making it easier and more natural.
Like it or not, your monetary value and what you get paid for is based on market value and demand. You are a cost to anyone that employs you and business, both for and non-profit, are consistently seeking faster, better, cheaper.
So now how do you compete?
You don’t keep your head buried in the sand pretending AI will not affect you. Figure out what you are going to do for tomorrow today because by the time you pay attention to that giant sucking sound that is your way of life, it will be too late.
I know this comes off as grim but I’m excited and looking forward to what is coming.
If you sat on the sidelines before thinking how if you only invested in that thing when it first came out, this is that new thing. If you thought to yourself, I should’ve learned how to do X in the early days because I could be doing so well today. This is that thing.
Don’t be a Luddite.
